Edward Baptiste Jr.
ELDER EDWARD BAPTISTE JR. is an Evangelist, who comes from a line of Church Planters and
Missionaries. His Great-grandfather planted the first SDA Church in Nicaragua, other family
members served as self-supporting missionaries in Nicaragua and Guyana, Pastors, Elders,
Conference President in NY, etc.
He was born in California, and has been residing in the state of New York since 1970, whom is
also the Founder and President of The Door of Mercy Ministries.
Edward, his wife Betty, and a group of church members are currently serving in a church
planting mission in Queens, NY., which began in 2023, Hollis Hope SDA in the Greater New
York Conference, which was organized as a church on September 5, 2026.
He has also begun a
new church planting project in the Northeast Region of Queens, NY, which will be his third
church planting venture.
Edward formerly served as the 1 st Executive Vice-President, and the Executive Evangelism
Coordinator of the Northeastern Conference Personal Ministries Federation, and had been
associated with the Personal Ministries Federation since the late 1980’s.
After the Lord, his great joy is having his wife Betty at his side, especially in ministry.
Elder Baptiste and his wife Betty serve together in Prison Ministries at the Union level as well as
locally, where they, along with a team which comprises of members of the Northeastern and the
Greater New York Conferences, minister at the Rikers Island Correctional Facilities.
Edward loves people and “never meets a stranger”. His greatest joy is serving the Lord in
Evangelism. He has been involved in Street Ministry since the late 1980’s and has conducted
Evangelistic Series here in New York, in Mexico and in Nicaragua.
Elder Baptiste graduated from Amazing Facts College of Evangelism (AFCOE) in 2003 and has
also been a speaker on the Southern California Prayer Line since its inception, more than 15
years ago.
Living for Jesus is the most important thing worth living for, states Elder Baptiste.
